“Big Open Linked Data” - a poster series

The bigger the number, the harder it can be to visualise. On an average day Thomson Reuters will collect a petabyte of data: that is 10 to the power of 15, or 10 with 14 more zeros.

- David Craig President of Financial & Risk, Thomson Reuters

Big Open Linked Data" (aka BOLD) was a company-wide initiative at Thomson Reuters to kick off what innovative and thoughtful solutions, we as a company, can actualize.

One of the first projects I worked on at Thomson Reuters were the BOLD Gallery Posters. They were created to promote and educate Thomson Reuters employees all the different BOLD projects going on at the company. You’ll see some are two-parters, describing the beginnings and goals and then going into a deep drive. And because the projects were focused on data, we wanted to have fun with infographics. It helped that my foundation was in graphic design.

Each poster is highly descriptive as well as “visual.” These posters were hung in common areas, hallways with a lot of foot traffic. The goal was to grab their attention, give a snapshot, as well as the opportunity for anyone passing by to pause and learn more. It was well received :)
